[EN] [Nina Rose is a 26-year-old playwright, actress, performer and DJ. While she feels her voice carries more weight in Paris, it’s in her hometown of Liège that she decided to set up « Les Bastards ». The collective she founded in 2019 brings together multidisciplinary artists from the queer community. Together, they create Liège’s first inclusive pride: the Transpédégouine. Drawing on her experience as a DJ, Nina expands the concept to include themed evenings of the same name throughout the year. Diagnosed HIV-positive in 2018, at the dawn of her gender affirmation, Nina is actively involved in mobilizing against the epidemic. In 2021, she became the first trans woman to embody the Sidaction mobilization campaign in Europe. Now undetectable, she continues to make a big splash in the media.
An artist, an active campaigner against HIV, an icon of the Belgian queer scene and a member of the Ballroom Scene, her first play « Hurler à la mer » tells the story of her journey from diagnosis to undetectability. For the biennial, Nina brings us her second project. « PRAISE ».
« Praise is conceived as a « universal space for trans women ». It illustrates the initiatory journey from masculine to feminine gender. In this way, Nina breaks down her being, her journey and that of her sisters into a multitude of characters to weave a trans mythology accessible to the general public. She offers a reinterpretation of the myth of Narcissus, bringing in her own references. The writing of this piece draws on a variety of media: acting, video, music, sculpture and, above all, dance. Because what better way to express fluidity, change and all the trials and tribulations the body goes through in the process of affirming its gender than through movement? She brings to the stage the reality of an HIV-positive transgender woman and sex worker.

[FR] Nina Rose est une dramaturge , comédienne , performeuse et DJ de 26 ans. Si elle a le sentiment que sa voix porte plus à Paris, c’est bien à Liège, sa ville natale, qu’elle décide de mettre en place “Les Bastards”. Ce collectif qu’elle fonde en 2019 réunit des artistes pluridisciplinaires de la communité queer. Ensemble, iels créent la première pride inclusive liégeoise : la Transpédégouine. Forte de son expérience de DJ, Nina élargit le concept à des soirées à thèmes du même nom, tout au long de l’année.
Diagnostiquée positive au VIH en 2018, à l’aube de son affirmation de genre, Nina s’investit activement dans la mobilisation contre l’épidémie. En 2021, elle devient la première femme trans à incarner la campagne de mobilisation du sidaction en Europe. Aujourd’hui indétectable, elle continue de faire grand bruit dans les médias.
Artiste, militante active dans la lutte contre le VIH, icône de la scène queer Belge et membre de la Ballroom Scene, sa première pièce « Hurler à la mer » raconte son parcours, du diagnostic de la maladie à son indétectabilité. Pour la biennale, Nina nous fait découvrir son deuxième projet. «PRAISE ».
“Praise” est conçu comme “l’espace universel des femmes trans”. On y relate le parcours initiatique du genre masculin au féminin. Ainsi, Nina décompose son être, son parcours, et celui de ses sœurs en une multitude de personnages pour tisser une mythologie trans accessible au grand public. Elle propose une réinterprétation du mythe de Narcisse, traversée par ses références . L’écriture de cette pièce s’appuie sur différents médiums : le jeu bien sûr, la vidéo, la musique, la sculpture mais aussi et surtout la danse. Car quoi de mieux que le mouvement pour exprimer la fluidité, le changement ainsi que toutes les épreuves traversées par le corps au cours de l’affirmation de genre . Elle montre sur scène la réalité d’une femme transgenre séropositive et sex workeuse.
