[EN] Juanita Onzaga (1991) is a Colombian filmmaker and visual artist currently based between Brussels, Bogotá and México. Her practice is a boundary-pushing exploration between cinema, moving image, technology and art, moving from intimate, sensorial and emotional landscapes to the crossroads between ancestral futurism, transformation of trauma from violent conflict, mysticism, the dreamworlds and the poetics of nature by decolonizing time and perception of the real through ancestral technologies.
Juanita combines fiction and non-fiction elements, creating poetic tales that reflect different ways of perceiving reality within strong political contexts. Her works create within realism, an intimate quest for mysticism, where the invisible complements and gives more answers and meanings to the physical world.
Her works have been presented at Cannes Directors Fortnight, Berlinale, Venice Film Festival, IFFR, the MoMA of New York, the Museum of Modern Art of Paris and more festivals and venues.
